Karu Bushcraft Basic

During the one-week course, you will learn comprehensive outdoor skills under the guidance of professional and straightforward instructors. The course teaches you skills to hike independently outdoors and develop your skills on your own.

The “Karu basic outdoor skills” course will be held in the North Karelia region in eastern Finland. You will stay the night in a tent or in similar terrain. The first and last nights of the course will have accommodation in a cabin or hotel, so that you are well-rested before and after the course. 

 

For whom?

The “Karu basic outdoor skills” course is intended for everyone who is interested in outdoor skills and who wants to learn new skills or expand their existing skills.

 

You will learn the following skills:

  • Handling an axe, saw and knife

  • Making fire

  • Temporary accommodation

  • Basics in using a map and compass

  • Preparing food over an open fire

  • Hygiene outdoors

  • First aid

 
 

Content of the course:

To be noted:

Attendees will stay the night in a temporary accommodation built during the course, weather permitting. In cold weather it is possible to stay the night in heated tents. Clients must take out insurance and have a sleeping bag, mattress and seasonal clothing. Attendees must be in a normal state of health.
